Gemco PLS replacement options from Autotech Controls
Looking for a Gemco programmable limit switch replacement? Start with your complete model number and the machine functions it controls. Autotech’s M1050 Series is a product family to evaluate for resolver-based timing applications, including projects using Gemco 1981, 1988, 1989 or 1995 Series equipment.
Replacement selection is application-specific. This guide does not establish a drop-in replacement or an approved wiring conversion.

What to evaluate with Autotech
Resolver-based timing
Evaluate shaft-position switching for your machine’s timing requirements.
Speed compensation
The M1050 Series includes speed compensation for PLS outputs.
Model selection
Compare output requirements against the selected M1050 Series model, including M1051-R10.
Which Gemco PLS are you replacing?
| Existing Gemco equipment | What to establish | Autotech selection approach |
|---|---|---|
| 1981 or 1988 Series | Complete part number, output arrangement and original documentation. | Evaluate an M1050 Series configuration against the installed functions. |
| 1989 Series | AMETEK lists this series as obsolete and identifies its own 2500 PLS as a suggested replacement. [1] | Request an independent Autotech alternative assessment; there is no universal cross-reference here. |
| 1995A Micro-Set | Resolver-based rotary PLS; six standard relay outputs, expandable to 30. [2] | Match the actual output count, relay loads and optional functions. |
| 1995B or other 1995 variants | Check the exact suffix and whether brake monitoring or another input type is required. | Review the entire configuration; a 1995A comparison does not establish equivalence for all variants. |
Compare the installed configuration, not just the model family
An existing PLS may switch lubrication, feeds, transfer equipment or other auxiliary devices. Record every used channel, ON/OFF angle and interlock before selecting replacement hardware. Include output load ratings and any timer, motion or brake-monitoring function. A matching product category alone does not establish a wiring-compatible replacement.

Can an Autotech M1051 replace my Gemco PLS?
The M1051-R10 is part of the M1050 Series to evaluate. Selection depends on the complete Gemco configuration and the machine’s requirements. Send the existing part number and wiring information for review.
Are all Gemco PLS models obsolete?
No. AMETEK identifies the 1989 Series as obsolete, while its website also lists 1995 Series products. Confirm the status of the exact model rather than applying one statement to all Gemco equipment. [1, 2]
Can I keep the existing resolver and wiring?
Only after the electrical characteristics, pinout and controller requirements have been checked. Provide the resolver’s complete part number; do not assume compatibility from connector appearance.
Check your replacement requirements
Contact Autotech Controls with your existing model number, application details and available drawings. Include the checklist above so the product selection discussion starts with the functions your machine needs.
